09.05.2013 This year’s traditional “Nikitian readings” will be dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Slavonic writing culture On May 13 at 4 p.m., the 13th international scientific conference “Spiritual Principles of Russian Arts and Education” (or Nikitian readings) will be inaugurated in the assembly hall of Novgorod Religious School (St. George Monastery). This year, it will be dedicated to 1150th anniversary of Slavonic Orthodox written culture. At the opening ceremony you will hear a musical greeting, also new books will be featured and there will be an exhibition of Orel artists. Scientists and clergymen from Belarus, Norway (Blessed Duchess of Novgorod St. Anna Parish Church), Croatia and Lithuania, Moscow and Saint-Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Voronezh, Petrozavodsk, Omsk, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Orel and many other cities of Russia will come to the conference. As well as scientists and postgraduates, students of Novgorod University will take the most active part in Nikitian readings. 13 years ago, NovSU Faculty of Teacher Education, Arts and Technology (Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Elementary Education) and the eparchy of Novgorod became initiators the Nikitian readings.
