The last public trail in Russia of German war criminals was endured from December 7, 1947 to December 18, 1947 in Novgorod Kremlin, in the former drama theatre.

Delegations of Leningrad, Pskov and Velikie Luki Regions, journalists, photo reporters from “Novgorodskaya Pravda” magazine and citizens of postwar Novgorod attended the court.  The exhibition of photographs of occupants’ acts of atrocity was placed at the entrance. The sentence of military court of Leningrad military command was declared on December 18, 1947: all nineteen defendants were accounted guilty and sentenced to 25 years prison in Vorkutlag.
