22.05.2009  The Scientific Conference «Actual Issues of Translation»

On May 21 the Scientific Conference «Actual Issues of Translation» was held in the Institute Humanities. 

About  50 linguists - graduate  and post-graduate students, candidates and doctors of sciences - from various cities of the Russian Federation (Veliky Novgorod, Moscow, Yakutsk, Ekaterinburg, Ulyanovsk, Tver, Magadan, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, etc.) and foreign countries (Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan) took part in the  Conference, organized by the Faculty of Linguistics and Cross-Cultural Communications.

The goal of the Conference was to discuss actual issues of oral and written translation, reveal modern domestic and foreign tendencies of translation, and identify the most effective methods and ways of professional translators training.  Materials of the Conference were published in the scientific monograph.  Participants discussed the issues of translation from/into English, German, French, Chinese, Spanish, Latin, Polish, ancient Greek and Portuguese languages. Each presentation was followed up with formal and informal discussion.                                                   

We are very pleased that Andrey Chuzhakin - the famous Russian translator, candidate of historical sciences, the senior lecturer of the Faculty of Translation of the Moscow State Linguistic University, the founder of a new trend in translation «The Applied Theory of Oral Translation and Cursive Writing», the author of a series «The World of Translation», the founder and the author of the concept of the award “The Crystal Bridge» - has participated in work of conference.It was his second visit to our University. In December, 2008   students and lectures of the Faculty of Linguistics and Cross-Cultural Communications were happy to receive Dr Chuzhakin. The famous translator organized some master-classes and lectures on translation.
