27.11.2013  First official visit of NovSU delegation to Appalachian State University (North Carolina, USA)

On 19-25 November 2013, NovSU official delegation headed by Rector Viktor Weber visited Appalachian State University.

NovSU delegation met with the leadership of the Appalachian State University: the Chancellor, Dr. Kenneth E. Peacock, the Provost, Dr. Lori Gonzalez, Vice Chancellor for International Education and Development, Dr. Jesse Lutabingwa, and deans of colleges.

During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with different areas of training, educational and research work at partner university, visited the College of Education, School of Music, College of Health Science, Department of Technology and Environmental Design, Department of Physics and Astronomy. During the meetings with the US colleagues, NovSU representatives discussed opportunities for development joint educational programs in Educational Leadership, Public Health, Nursing Care, Industrial Design, etc. Much attention was paid to the academic exchange of faculty members and students.

Novgorod guests learned about organization of students’ life at the Appalachian University, visited student clubs and associations, the university library.

In School of Music

The visit resulted in an extended Action Program that was agreed upon in various meetings at Appalachian. E.g., Appalachian delegation will participate in the annual Week of NovSU International Collaboration and a group of American students will study at the Summer School of the Russian Language and Culture next year.

In Students Union

It is to be recalled that Agreement on Cooperation between NovSU and Appalachian was signed in June 2011, and Vice Chancellor for International Education and Development Jesse Lutabingwa visited the NovSU in October last year.
