31.10.2014  The Association of Lawyers of Russia board meeting took place at the Law Faculty of NovSU

On Thursday, October 30th, the students of the Law Faculty participated in the board meeting held by the Novgorod Department of the Association of Lawyers of Russia (ALR) in the NovSU School of Humanities. The head of the regional department of ALR, the State Duma deputy (the parliamentary party “United Russia”) Sergey Fabrichny told the participants about the work done by the association during the year.

“Still our guidelines are delivery of legal assistance to citizens, inspection of normative legal acts, preparation and organization of seminars and panel discussions on law topics. This year more than 2 thousand citizens of Novgorod region have received an advice concerning various issues. We have two places – “Juridical clinic” based at the Law Faculty of NovSU and the community liaison office of the “United Russia” party president - where students give reception of citizens too. In December, we will honor with special awards those students who was particularly successful”, – said Sergey Fabrichny.

The deputy believes that the getting of public accreditation by the Law Faculty is the significant joint achievement of the regional department of ALR and NovSU.

“Public accreditation is a specific quality mark of students’ training. We strove for this decision for about two years. Accreditation enables the NovSU Law Faculty to enroll students in state-funded educational program. For 2015, we have not managed to execute the plan of state-funded places to the full extent – just 12 of them. We will work with our partners together to increase the number of “state-funded” students”, – said Fabrichny.

The students asked about future opening of Master’s program at the Law Faculty. According to the dean of the Law Faculty Viktor Prokofiev, documents for the opening of Master’s program are already prepared. They will be sent to the Ministry of Education and Science in November.

“Objectively, this is quite difficult process. Novgorod law school in comparison with Saratov, Ural, Moscow or St Petersburg ones is considered to be young. There is tough competition between leading universities including competition for state-funded places. There were many doubts while our Law Faculty had been creating. Time showed that the faculty succeeded. From now on, ALR will support the development of the Law Faculty”, – assured Sergey Fabrichny.

Among the nearest plans of ALR there is summarizing and rewarding of winners of the contest “Lawyer of the Year in Novgorod Region”. The winners will be determined in nominations “Legal Enlightenment and Attitude Ddevelopment” and “Legal Education”.

“This is specific contest of “the best professionals”. In Novgorod region, it takes place for the first time. We expect that it will become traditional”, – concluded the deputy
