01.10.2019  NovSU professor made three reports at the Congress of American Surgeons

Alexander Ukhanov, professor at the NovSU School of Medical Education, chief surgeon of Veliky Novgorod, head of the Surgical Department of Clinic № 2 of the Central City Clinical Hospital, participated in the Laparo-Endoscopic Surgeons’ American Society Congress "Minimally Invasive Surgery Week", which took place in New Orleans (Louisiana, U.S.).

The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons is a non-profit association of  surgeons from the USA, Canada and other countries, which use minimally invasive innovative video-endosurgical treatment methods in their work. Congress lasted for 5 days. At its meetings, issues of the use of minimally invasive treatment methods in abdominal, thoracic surgery, gynecology and urology were discussed.

At the Congress session dedicated to Emergency Surgery of Abdominal Organs, Alexander Ukhanov made three reports in English, presenting the experience of using laparoscopic surgery in case of acute appendicitis, acute cholecystitis and perforated ulcers of the stomach and duodenum. Currently, the experience of more than two thousands of such operations are carried out in the Central City Clinical Hospital and results of its use formed the basis of the presented reports. The reports of the Novgorod professor aroused keen interest among peers. Professor John Redan spoke about it in his final report of the President of Congress. Alexander Ukhanov was also awarded a special diploma.
