01.10.2019  A professor from the Moscow State University gave a master class on working with medieval German manuscripts

Last week, Catherine Squires, professor at the Moscow State University, a senior specialist in working with medieval German manuscripts, taught a master class at the Center for Cooperation with the Сountries of Nothern Europe and the Baltic Sea.

The master class was organized by the Department of World History and International Relations. Undergraduate historians and Germanist students took part in it.

The lecturer spoke about the specifics of the Middle Low German dialect’s formation widespread in the Hansa zone, and then she demonstrated working methods with handwritten texts and texts, which were translated from the Middle Low German dialect into German. 

At the end of the master class, students expressed a desire to continue such classes.
