02.09.2013  City Leaders Handed Over Student IDs to the NovSU Freshmen

Freshmen Gala took place on 2 September in the NovSU Sports Center.

Rector of NovSU Victor Weber, Novgorod Region Governor Sergei Mitin, chairperson of the Regional Duma Elena Pisareva congratulated freshmen on the Day of Knowledge.

In particular, Victor Weber said that the freshmen would have excellent student years, devoted to getting knowledge and skills and that the university was willing to give it to them. He said: ”We employ more than 700 professors and associate professors, possess excellent training and production facilities, libraries, Internet; our information support is one of the best among Russian universities” Also, Rector Weber added that extracurricular life was also very bright and our university had all conditions for research, creative work and sports.

The regional governor Sergei Mitin congratulated the freshmen on the choice of one of the best universities in the country, which is included in the list of 55 most successful and effective Russian universities. He noted that the activity of the Novgorod State University is very important for the social and economic development of the region. “More than 40 000 professionals, most of them work for the benefit of the area graduated Novgorod State University for last 20 years”.

The chairperson of the Regional Duma Elena Pisareva began her speech with “Hello the happiest students of Novgorod region!” As a former graduate of the university, she added that students’ life was nice, funny, kind and wise, and that NovSU graduates became real professionals.

A concert program demonstrated to freshmen what could be practiced in extracurricular life and what results could be achieved.
