26.10.2013 The fist Russian academic and theology-educational centre “Purification of Virgin Mary in Antonovo”
The first Russian academic and theology-educational centre “Purification of Virgin Mary in Antonovo” was opened in the university church on 25 October. “The main purpose of that Centre is enlightment,” – says Svetlana Kovarskaya, the Director of Education and Research Center at NovSU School of Humanities. She added that humanity students can attend lectures, take part in seminars and discussion groups. Exhibitions, new books presentations and meeting writers are planned to be hold in the academic and theology-educational centre. The first meeting took place at the opening day: students had an opportunity to talk to Ludmila Sekretar, the author of numerous books about monuments of Veliky Novgorod. During the opening ceremony, Rector of Novgorod State University Prof., Dr. Viktor Weber marked: “Last year, Metropolitan Leo ministered in that church on Yaroslav the Wise’s Day. Today, besides services, Sunday school is functioning here. And now Novgorod, being “a capital of enlightenment”, has its academic and theology-educational centre.” Archpriest Alexandre Ranne congratulated participants of the opening ceremony on behalf of Metropolitan Leo and wished every success in studying Russian Orthodox Culture.
Soon the booklore and enlightenment museum of Novgorod that presents the booklore history from psalms to modern books will open at the academic and theology-educational centre “Purification of Virgin Mary in Antonovo”. English |
