22.10.2009  Visit to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst

On 6-15 October, the group of students, post-graduate students and interns of the Institute of Medical Education headed by Olga Kondrateva, assistant professor of the Department of the General Pathology visited the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on the invitation of Director of School of Public Health and Health Sciences, Prof. David Ross Buchanan.

The visit was organized within the framework of the Russian-American project “Advancing Theory and Knowledge in Public Health Sciences on Global Health Issues”.

Novgorod delegation attended lectures and seminars on public health issues, discussed the popularization strategy in the field of public health services. American lecturers introduced the BASICS program - the prevention of abusing alcohol. During the visit, our delegation had an opportunity to familiarize with the structure and educational process of the University of Massachusetts, visit the hospital, etc.

In January, 2010 we expect the visit of UMass Amherst professors, and in summer - group of students.
