19.02.2014  Seminar of Publishing House PEARSON-LONGMAN

On 19 February, a regular meeting-seminar with representatives of publishing house PEARSON-LONGMAN with the assistance of centre of foreign literature “Knizhniy Dom” took place at NovSU Faculty of Linguistics and Cross-Cultural Communication. The venue of the event – NovSU Centre of Creative Intellectuals named after Vladimir Soroka. Those meetings have already become traditional. Their goal is the acquirement of innovative methods of foreign language teaching, acquaintance with new textbooks published by PEARSON-LONGMAN. This meeting-seminar was devoted to peculiarities of usage of digital technology applications for language teaching.

Not only Faculty members of the NovSU Faculty of Linguistics and Cross-Cultural Communication, but also secondary school teachers of English and German were invited to participate in the meeting. Natalia Platonova, the representative of the publishing house, told about opportunities of using new textbooks for online learning. Faculty members shared their impressions on textbooks, which they used for many years, and on those that were tried out on the recommendation of the publishing house.

This topic raised participants’ interest and invoked active discussions of the subject. There was a chance to purchase textbooks on site. Moreover, regional manager of the publishing house Natalia Platonova issued certificates, which confirm participation in the event. “Knizhniy Dom” gave several editions as a gift to the participants.
