21.12.2009  NovSU Professors visit University of Massachusetts, Amherst

On the invitation of David Buchanan, Director of the Institute for Global Health (IGH) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Dr. Georgy Arkhipov and Dr. Ekaterina Arkhipova, Professors of Institute of Medicine at the Novgorod State University visited the IGH as Distinguished Scholars for the period of November 20 - December 10, 2009.

The visit was organized within the framework of the American-Russian project “Advancing Theory and Knowledge  in Public Health Sciences on Global Health Issues”.
The Arkhipovs told their US colleagues about their research on chronic disease prevention and HIV/AIDS prevention in Russia and participated in  a series of research seminars on their current research interests.

The visit of Novgorod Professors was is most important to enable the US partners  to refine the objectives and plans for the current project, funded by the US Department of Education and Ministry of Education and Science of RF, and to advance the development of the new research proposals to the US National Institutes of Health.
It was planned  to organize  the Summer Institute on Epidemiology, Public Health and Prevention, which is tentatively scheduled for next Spring, April 2010.
