26.04.2014 A new historical book about Novgorod Governorate has been presented in Antonovo. The documents and photographs have never been published before On 25 April, presentation of new historical book “The Novgorod Governorate. Everyday Life. 1918-1927” took place in the NovSU Center of Education, Science and Theological Education “Candlemas in Antonovo” located in the the temple of Candlemas. The book is a joint project of the NovSU School of Humanities and the Novgorod Region State Archive of Modern History. The historical book consists of 285 documents and 29 photographs from 16 funds of the Novgorod Region State Archive of Modern History. They have never been published before and are of great interest while studying and apprehending the everyday life of the governorate in the first decade of 1917, right after the October Revolution. The director of the Novgorod Region State Archive of Modern History Tatyana Voronina pointed out that the main task was to extract information regarding the life of the Novgorodians in that post-revolutionary decade from hundreds of documents (politically charged, for the most part). “They were thinking of vital concerns. Making a living, survival, earning crust. Young people, though, like nowadays, were thinking not only of where and how to get money, but also where the party will be, how to find their intended, and where to get money for the wedding,” —Tatyana Voronina says. The historical book “The Novgorod Governorate. Everyday Life. 1918-1927” can be found in the University Library, and there are free copies in the Novgorod Region State Archive of Modern History (Desyatinnaya, 6). English |
