13.04.2018  Four Novgorod school students are in the quarterfinals of the game “Bright Boys, Bright Girls” in Moscow

On April 12, final regional stage of the Humanitarian Olympiad was held at the NovSU Education and Training Centre “Sretenie” (Antonovo, the Church of the Presentation of the Lord). The competition was a version of the famous intellectual TV program “Bright Boys, Bright Girls”. Yuri Viazemsky, the author and permanent presenter of this TV program, candidate of historical sciences, professor and the chair of the Department of World Literature and Culture of the International Journalism School at MGIMO, was the honorary guest of the final competition. The jury included Metropolite of Novgorod and Staraya Russa Lev, Mayor of Veliky Novgorod Yury Bobryshev and Acting Rector of NovSU Yuri Borovikov.

 

As in the semifinal, the game topic was the Monument to the Millennium of Russia: characters, era and details of the construction. The presenter also remained the same. Assignments were given by Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences Boris Kovalev.

 

After the competition, the Acting Rector of NovSU Yuri Borovikov announced that all the finalists receive 10 additional points to their Unified State Examination score upon their enrollment to the NovSU. According to the results of the regional stage, the “Bright Boys, Bright Girls” are Polina Yastimova (4 points), Alexander Dukhanin (4.5 points) and the winner is Svetlana Kiliba (6 points). 

Also, Mayor of Veliky Novgorod Yury Bobryshev presented the 10th anniversary of awarding Veliky Novgorod’s the “City of Military Glory” title. Honorary sign “Veliky Novgorod – the City of Military Glory" was received by professor Yuri Viazemsky and Acting Rector of NovSU Yuri Borovikov. Metropolite Lev in his turn awarded the winners with Certificates and presented Easter calendars to guests.

The author and permanent presenter of the TV program Bright Boys, Bright Girls” Yuri Viazemsky then took the floor and declared another winner of the competition – Mikhail Ostrovsky.  Svetlana Kiliba, according to the rules of the television game, got the title "immortal". Now she needs to earn at least two orders in the quarterfinals to get into the semifinals.  

Yury Viazemsky added that now the winners of the regional stage of the Humanitarian Olympiad are having a challenging time – preparing for the quarterfinals. The recording of the program on Channel 1 is scheduled for September.
