10.10.2012  NovSU students will study at Appalachian State University (North Carolina, US)

On October 8-9, 2012,, the Associate Vice Chancellor for International Education and Development, Appalachian State University (North Carolina, US) made an official visit to Novgorod State University.

Visit to the NovSU Competence Center

On October 8, the Associate Vice Chancellor for International Education and Development  the Vice Rector for International Affairs of NovSU and the staff of International Relations Office and discussed cooperation issues within the framework of the Memorandum of Agreement signed between Appalachian State University and Novgorod State University in June, 2011. The purpose of this agreement is to establish a framework within which academic and scientific cooperation may develop between Appalachian and NovSU to provide participating students, faculty and staff with an opportunity to study, teach and research, and benefit from the academic and cultural environment in the U.S. and Russia.

Prof. Lutabingwawhere he met with Prof. Marina Nilova, Director of the Centre of Russian Language and Culture, Chair of Russian for International Students, and familiarized himself with Russian language courses offered by the Chair and Center to international students and citizens.

Later this day, Prof. Jesse Lutabingwa visited the NovSU Institute of Continuous Pedagogical Education and met with Prof. Alexander Shirin, the Director, faculty members and students of Department of Psychology and Education. During the talks, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of Educational Leadership.

On October 9, the Vice-Chancellor for International Education and Development visited the NovSU Institute of Humanities where he met with the students and faculty members of the Department of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication. The students learned about Appalachian State University and its students’ life. They were excited by the perspective to participate in the exchange students program (NovSU students who have a good proficiency in English have an opportunity to study at Appalachian State for a semester or year and they do not have to pay tuition and general fees at Appalachian). NovSU students literally showered him with various questions.

Also Professor Jesse Lutabingwa had an opportunity to see the architectural monuments of Veliky Novgorod - the Museum of Wooden Architecture “Vitoslavlitsy”, the Kremlin, St. Sophia Cathedral and Yaroslav's Court. He said that he was very impressed with our city, its ancient history.
