22.03.2013  World Poetry Day at NovSU Literary Club

NovSU Literary Club meeting dedicated to World Poetry Day took place on March 21.  

World Poetry Day was declared by UNESCO in 1999. March, 21 - the day of spring equinox in the Northern hemisphere - was chosen as a symbol of nature renovation and creativity of human spirit. The purpose of the day is to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout the world and, as the UNESCO session declaring the day says, to "give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements". For the first time World Poetry Day was celebrated in Paris (where head-office of UNESCO was located) and Moscow Theatre on Taganka.

Among speakers of the meeting there were Anatoliy Molokanov, the chairman of Union Russian Writers;  authors of “Yaroslav’s Day” collection – Sergey Kartashov, Gleb Druzhnin and Grigiry Knyazev, the poets of different branches and artistic principles; fledgling poets and permanent members of the Club.
