Information on Visas and Registration
REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS
IF AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT COMES TO THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION FOR THE FIRST TIME:

When filling out the migration card, be sure to write STUDY as the purpose of entry to Russian Federation.

If an international student, upon arrival in the territory of the Russian Federation, does not come immediately to Veiky Novgorod and to Novgorod State University (NovSU), he/she should apply for migration registration at the place of temporary stay.

To get a permit for living in a NovSU dormitory, an international student must submit to the NovSU Visa and Registration department (Veliky Novgorod, ul. Sashi Ustinova, 1) the following documents within 3 days: migration card; identity document (passport); written permission for accommodation from the NovSU Hostels Department.

In case of living at a private apartment (house) address, an international student applies for migration registration on his/her own.

Within 3 days after the date of arrival to NovSU, an international student should purchase a voluntary health insurance policy (DMS) at his/her own expense.
EXTENSION OF MIGRATION REGISTRATION
To extend the migration registration after temporary absence (leaving for another region of RF, going home for vacation, etc), an international student, within 3 calendar days after coming back to Veliky Novgorod, must apply to the NovSU Visa and Registration department with the following documents: identity document (passport); migration card; tear-off part of the notification (uvedomlenie) form.
EXTENSION OF A STUDY VISA
To extend a multiple-entry study visa, an international student, no later than 40 calendar days before the expiration of the existing visa, must apply to the the NovSU Visa and Registration department and provide the following documents: identity document (passport); migration card; tear-off part of the notification (uvedomlenie) form; receipt of payment of the state fee for visa processing; photo 3 pcs. size 3x4.
PLEASE, NOTE THAT THE VALIDITY OF A STUDY VISA ENDS 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE EXPIRATION OF THE PASSPORT!
LOSS OF DOCUMENTS
In case of loss, damage, theft of documents (identity document - passport, migration card, notification), an international student must immediately contact the nearest police station and inform the NovSU Visa and Registration department and the NovSU Recruiting and International Students Department about the incident.
PROCEDURE OF OBTAINING TEMPORARY RESIDENCE PERMIT IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

If you are a foreign citizen studying at NovSU as a full-time student of a Bachelor's degree program, Specialist degree program, Master's degree program, Residency program, Assistant Trainee program or a program of scientific and pedagogical staff training in a graduate school (Adjuncture),

If you are applying for the temporary residence permit in person for the first time,

If you are AIDS/HIV-negative
Here is the list of the documents you need:
1. Application (Annex No. 4) in 2 copies (provided at the place of submitting the documents, for example, Passport and Visa Service Centre at Moskovskaya, 7, Veliky Novgorod);
2. Applicant's identity document*: original document; valid for at least 3 months as of the date of application;
3. Photos: 2 personal photos 35 mm x 45 mm in black and white or color (corresponding to the age of the applicant at the time of application, with a clear image of the face strictly from the front without headgear);
4. Certificate of the absence of criminal record* from the applicant who arrived in the Russian Federation in a manner requiring a visa: a document issued by the authorized body of the state of permanent residence (your home country), confirming the absence of a criminal record or, if any, containing information about the crime for which the applicant was convicted. Document requirements: original document; issued no earlier than 3 months before the date of application. Note that this document is issued by an authorized body in your country of permanent residence, i.e. your home country!
5. Documents confirming applicant's enrolment in NovSU: copy of the enrollment order;
6. Migration card;
7. Medical documents confirming that a foreign citizen has undergone a medical examination;
8. Receipt confirming that the state tax was paid in the established amount.
* Documents drawn up in a foreign language or in several foreign languages, if among them there is no Russian language, must be attached to the application with a translation into Russian, while the accuracy of the translation or the authenticity of the translator's signature must be notarized in the manner established by the legislation of the Russian Federation on notaries.
